We believe the best partnerships are built on shared values, attention to detail, trust, and a design process that feels personal and collaborative from start to finish.
In Big Sky, one of our most foundational markets, we’re proud to collaborate with Vantage Design, a soft goods studio led by designer Jade Miller. From her dedication to sustainability to the care she puts into each step of her process, Jade brings something truly special to the table.
We recently sat down with her to learn more about how Vantage began, how it’s evolved, and what continues to inspire her work.
“It really started because I couldn’t ignore the waste anymore.”
After nearly a decade in interior design, Jade knew how much fabric was left over after installs, bolts of beautiful, untouched material with nowhere to go.
“I just started noticing it more and more,” she told us. “The amount of fabric that was getting tossed or stored indefinitely. It didn’t feel right.”
In 2020, she stepped away from client design work and began repurposing leftover fabric into pillows, sewing at home, using materials from local projects in Big Sky, Bozeman, and Jackson. At first, it was just something she did on the side. But it didn’t stay small for long.
In just five years, that small start led to real change. Vantage has saved over five miles of fabric from entering landfills, simply by rethinking how materials are used.
“Pillows were such a natural place to start. They’re simple to make, they use smaller cuts of fabric, and they let you get creative,” Jade said. “Then I started thinking… why not build a business around this? Why not do it differently?”
From the beginning, Vantage Design was about more than product. Jade hired local women who could sew from home, offering flexible work while keeping everything local and community-based.
“That part was really important to me,” she said. “I didn’t just want to make things. I wanted to build a team where people felt valued and supported.”
That mindset carries through everything Vantage does. The team, Jade, Faith, and Kiera, works closely with designers to make the process feel easy and collaborative. Every quote is clear. Every piece is made with care. Every client is treated like a creative partner.
“It’s about being kind, being responsive, and really listening,” Jade shared. “That’s how we run our business.”
“Designers started asking for more than just pillows.”
After three years focused on pillows, Jade realized she could expand her services to better support designers.
“I had so many people coming to me saying, ‘Can you help with the whole package?’” she laughed. “And the answer was yes, I just had to build it.”
Today, Vantage offers full soft goods packages for bedrooms and bathrooms. That includes custom pillows, of course, but also mattress protectors, pillow covers, bedding, and bath linens, all laundered, labeled by room, and install-ready.
“We try to take the legwork out,” Jade said. “If a designer wants to be hands-on, great. If they want to send us the presentation and walk away, that works too. We can be as involved as needed.”
“Natural fibers are timeless and they’re better for people and the planet.”
Vantage is known for using high-quality, natural materials like wool, linen, and cotton. For Jade, it’s never been about following trends, it’s about sourcing materials that are functional, breathable, and built to last.
“These fibers regulate temperature. They hold their shape. They’re safe for your body and your home,” she explained. “And they never go out of style.”
Every part of the process is approached with sustainability in mind. Pillow inserts are sourced from a husband-and-wife team nearby. Tissue box covers are made from upcycled leather. Scrap fabric is offered back to the local community to keep it out of landfills.
“Sustainability isn’t a tagline for us. It’s the filter for every decision we make,” she said.
“Big Sky is home. And that’s shaped how I run this business.”
Based in Big Sky, Montana, Jade has built a business that reflects the values of the place she calls home. Her work is shaped by the pace, the landscape, and the relationships that define the mountain region.
She partners closely with designers across Big Sky, Jackson, Sun Valley, and Whitefish, but Big Sky is where the story began, and where the studio continues to grow.
“I love working in the mountain region,” Jade told us. “Designers here really value craftsmanship. They care about quality, about the materials, about how things are made. That’s what makes these relationships so strong.”
The process typically starts with a design presentation. From there, Jade and her team pull materials and product combinations that align with the vision, supporting the designer’s work with care, clarity, and flexibility.
“We’re not just vendors,” she said. “We’re collaborators. We want to understand the vision and help bring it to life.”
At Collective Design, meaningful partnerships begin with shared values: creativity, integrity, and a respect for the design process. Collaborating with Jade and Vantage Design reflects that alignment in every detail.
Her craftsmanship and attention to detail elevate every space we design, and her collaborative nature makes the process seamless for our team and clients alike. Jade’s work brings warmth, authenticity, and refinement, qualities that reflect our design philosophy and the environments we create.
We are proud to feature Vantage Design in our showroom, offering her meticulously crafted and sustainable soft goods to our Colorado community. Her collection lives naturally within the textures, tones, and elegance of the homes we shape.
